Preamble
- Whereas the Company of Drapers of the Town of Shrewsbury was incorporated by Royal Charter under the Seal of King Edward IV in the year of Our Lord 1462 under the name of 'The Master. Wardens and Commonalty of the Freemen of the Art or Mysteries of Drapers of Shrewsbury' (hereinafter called the Company).
- And Whereas following the enactment of the Municipal Corporations Act 1835 the Company has continued to exist as :rrustee of almshouses first. established in the year of Our Lord 1444 and now included in the Shrewsbury Drapers' Company General Charities comprised in Schemes of the Charity Commissioners of 6 May 1930, 7 June 1961, 5 September 1966, 30 March 1992 and 1 1 April 1997 and subsequently of other charities including the Hospital of St. Giles (as set out in the Scheme of 20 March 1969).
- And Whereas the Company resolved by resolution dated 7 January 1991 to expand its activities and to that end to increase the, number of Freemen of the Company and to amend the Constitution of the Company to achieve its' new objectives.
