On Saturday 21st January, over 70 Drapers and guests enjoyed Prof. Deborah Wynne's illustrated talk "The Fabric of Society - Cloth in British History and Literature" at the University Centre, Guildhall, Shrewsbury. The talk had been written with the Shrewsbury Drapers Company in mind and was followed by lunch. There was also an opportunity to look round the building guided by the Provost Prof. Anna Sutton and Deputy Provost Paul Kirkbright. "It was a most enjoyable collaboration with the University Centre, Shrewsbury, and the Drapers hope it will be the first of many such events" commented Mary Rose Bone of the Shrewsbury Drapers Company
The event was a fundraising event for Drapers Place, the newly completed 25 unit almshouses near Shrewsbury Abbey providing sheltered accommodation for the elderly.
